The Indiana Fever announced Sunday that they have parted ways with head coach Christie Sides after two seasons. Under Sides' leadership, the Fever reached their first postseason since 2016, with a notable contribution from Caitlin Clark, the 2024 Rookie of the Year, who delivered an outstanding season. The Fever concluded the regular season with a 20-20 record.
"We are immensely grateful to Coach Sides for her dedication and commitment through a pivotal transition period over the past two seasons, which has set us up for promising future growth," stated Fever President of Basketball Operations Kelly Krauskopf.
“While such decisions are challenging, it is vital that we remain bold and proactive in achieving our objectives, which include fully utilizing our talent and pursuing another WNBA championship for Indiana."
Clark, at just 22, made history as the first rookie in 16 years to secure a spot on the All-WNBA First Team. She also set a new league record for single-season assists, including a WNBA-record 19 assists in one game. Her 8.4 assists per game average marks another WNBA record. Clark further distinguished herself as the first rookie to achieve a triple-double and set the record for the most three-pointers made (122) by a rookie in league history.
"Coach Sides was an outstanding representative for the Fever and our community, and we wish her every success moving forward," Krauskopf added.
Sides concluded her tenure with a 33-47 regular-season record. Indiana’s 2024 playoff run was cut short with a sweep by the Connecticut Sun in the first round.
During her first season, forward Aliyah Boston claimed the 2023 Rookie of the Year title, underscoring the team's development under Sides' guidance.
