Breaking : Trump won Arizona, completing a sweep of the swing state and receiving a total of 312 electoral votes-urgent360

Trump won Arizona

President-elect Trump has officially won Arizona, reclaiming the crucial swing state he lost in the 2020 election. The Associated Press called the race on Saturday evening, giving Trump an additional 11 electoral votes and bringing his total to 312, compared to Vice President Harris's 226.

This victory in Arizona closes the battle for swing states in the 2024 presidential race. Alongside Arizona, Trump secured electoral votes from key battlegrounds, including North Carolina, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.

In the 2020 election, President Biden narrowly won Arizona, carrying the state by less than 0.5%, with a slim lead in Maricopa County where he outperformed Trump by just 2%. Before Biden's victory, Republicans had consistently held Arizona since 1996.

Immigration remains a prominent issue in Arizona, a state that shares a border with Mexico. “We need faster action at the border,” said Mary, a Phoenix resident, to Fox News Digital last month. "If there's any suspicion of criminal intent, they should be detained." Others supported Harris’s message that Trump poses a threat to “democracy.”

One Tempe resident, Bob, echoed these concerns, saying, "The rich are benefiting from tax cuts while government oversight is being weakened. We need leaders like Kamala to bring balance back."

Arizona also has a significant Hispanic population, which favored Biden by 19 points in 2020 but showed signs of shifting toward Trump in the lead-up to this election. Additionally, voters in Arizona are selecting a new senator after independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema chose not to seek re-election. Republican candidate Kari Lake, a former TV news anchor, is facing Democrat Rep. Ruben Gallego, a former Marine representing Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District.
