Four teenagers were injured—two of them seriously—by an axe during a brawl on a suburban train outside Paris on Monday, according to police sources. The main suspect was later apprehended.
Among the victims, all aged 16 or 17, one suffered a severed hand, while another sustained a skull fracture. Two others were less severely injured during the altercation, which reportedly began around 8:00 a.m. as the teens were on their way to secondary school.
The exact cause of the fight remains unclear, but police noted that several weapons were involved, including an axe, a knife, a samurai sword, and baseball bats.
All the injured were taken to the hospital, and none of their lives are in danger, a source added. The primary suspect, a 16-year-old, was later detained at his home, where an axe was recovered and confiscated.
The incident occurred while the RER suburban train was stationed at Ozoir-la-Ferrière, southeast of Paris. An announcement on the official X account for the RER E line stated, “An incident on the TUVA train currently at the Ozoir station requires the train to remain at the platform as we await police intervention.” A subsequent post reported delays in both directions due to the “altercation on board a train at Ozoir station.”
