In a serious escalation of threats, an alleged “Iranian asset” has been charged with a plot by Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) to assassinate U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who has survived two previous attempts on his life. Trump, anticipated to return to the White House this January, reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to his ear in an assassination attempt this past July.
According to the U.S. Justice Department, 51-year-old Farhad Shakeri, identified as an "Iranian asset," was directed by the Iranian government on October 7 to orchestrate Trump’s assassination. Although Shakeri allegedly expressed reluctance to execute the plan within the IRGC’s timeframe, he is now facing multiple charges. Iran has formally denied these accusations.

Garland. The IRGC is classified as a terrorist organization by the United States.
FBI Director Christopher Wray added that the charges underscore Iran’s ongoing targeting of U.S. citizens, including high-profile individuals critical of the Iranian regime. “The IRGC has collaborated with criminals and hired assassins to attack Americans on U.S. soil, and such actions will not be tolerated,” he said.
Records show Shakeri, who reportedly immigrated to the U.S. as a child and was deported in 2008 after a robbery conviction, is now residing in Iran. Prosecutors allege that he also conspired with two former prison associates in New York to assassinate a U.S. citizen of Iranian descent who had publicly criticized the Iranian government.
In response, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has dismissed the allegations as “totally unfounded,” with spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei denying any involvement in assassination plots against former or current American officials.
Heightened Security and Technological Measures
With multiple assassination attempts reported, the U.S. Secret Service has increased protective measures for Trump, including deploying robotic dogs to patrol his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. Trump narrowly escaped injury in a July incident where a bullet grazed his ear, followed by a second attempt in Florida three months later when shots were fired in his vic
